Youths have been advised to venture into agribusiness and agriculture as the government plans to resume training youths under Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project [KYEOPA].
Addressing the press on Friday at Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project in Kisii County when accessing the preparedness and readiness of trainees, The Chief Administrative Secretary Nadia Abdalla Ministry of ICT Innovations and youth affairs, said that after visiting 17 counties who are beneficiaries of the program they found Master craftsmen are ready for the program.
This comes after the programs were suspended following COVID 19 pandemic.
According to the CAS and the PS, they have found that the program can resume by advising the beneficiary to observe the guidelines set by the ministry of health.
“We have visited master craftsmen in , Kitui, Nakuru, Kisumu ,Kwale, Mombasa, Kisii & other Counties to assess their preparedness, so far we have found that all are ready, we will be giving instructions on how the resumption will work very soon “ Said CAS Nadia Abdalla
“We will ensure there is social distancing, hand washing stations, sanitizers and Covid-19 compliance signposts” she added
About Kisii she said that It’s unique more so in food security which is under the big four agenda, urging the youths to an opportunity and venture in agribusiness and agriculture.

“Today I have come to realize that there are many products which can be produced from Banana , its advisable for the youths to venture into agribusiness ,KYEOP is looking to empower them : Added CAS Nadia Abdalla
PS Youth Julius Korir who accompanied the CAS Noted that KYEOP is a sustainability model, mastercraftsmen & training providers give young people the ability to empower themselves & the community around them, this is a narrative of empowerment for all the people involved.
In Kisii 1261 youths going through KYEOPA and 1500 under Business Support program Kisii County being the last entrance to the program.
The PS added that they are targeting under the project global 270,000 young people as per now they have trained more than 45,000 and also within the number will get grants to be able to start business and each beneficiary will be getting Ksh 40,000.
